Our next exhibition will be one mounted jointly by the Mere Rivers Group and the Museum, and will be installed on Friday-Saturday June 8th-9th. It will be called ‘A Tale of Two Rivers’, and will explore the importance of the Ashfield and the Shreen to Mere, their history, environment and wildlife, the industries dependent on them, their formerly active mills, the matter of water abstraction, and the rivers as local amenities, to name just a few of the topics we aim to highlight. We have also asked for ‘river stories’ that local people may have (we would still like more!).The not-to-be missed Preview will be on Monday June 11th, at 6.30 p.m. as usual.
