We are pleased to announce that our new exhibition will explore the Rutter Scrapbooks.
Our preview evening is being held on Monday 17th April, from 7.00pm, in the Library. As usual wine and nibbles will be served. We hope as many as possible will be able to attend.
The scrapbooks date from the 1850’s to the early part of the 20th century. There were two scrapbooks into which hundreds of documents, posters and newspaper cuttings had been pasted which related to the public activities of John Farley Rutter and his family.
In order to do this the Friends of the Museum had to raise £8000 as a result of which the Rutter family agreed to give the collection unreservedly to Mere Museum.
This exhibition shows a selection of the posters and also gives some insight into the Rutter Family.
