We are welcoming in the New Year with a fascinating new exhibition! We’ve called it ‘Mere’s Amazing Neighbours!’ as it shines a spotlight on a few aspects of the history of each of the five parishes surrounding Mere which the Museum also serves. They are West Knoyle, Kilmington, Stourton with Gasper, Maiden Bradley and Zeals. Do
Plans for future exhibitions this year include two travelling exhibitions compiled under the auspices of the Wiltshire Museums Service which examine aspects of life in this country during WWI. Then later, an exhibition about the succession of home-grown printers in Mere, using material from the recent gift of Mere posters.
Following our recent, the very successful Wine Tasting Evening (thank you all for your support), we are now starting to plan for our big annual event, the plant sale which will take place this year on Saturday 12th May. Our current exhibition is titled, ‘Made in Mere’. It showcases a large variety of artefacts that owe their existence to the diligence, toil and enthusiasm of residents of Mere over a couple of centuries. Items range from furniture (small!) to trains (also small!), from toys to candles and posters to pots. Please come and visit!

In our new exhibition ‘Made in Mere’ you can see a large brass clock face and a small silver pocket watch, children’s toys and a child’s chair, model trains and model animals (snuff-boxes!), photographs and posters and, as they so often say these days, ‘much, much more’!
